“It’s great to see the first pitch thrown. All the teams have arrived, they are settled in the village and are ready to get this tournament going,” said George Arcand, Chair of the 2008 ISF Junior Men’s World Fast Pitch Championship. “Seeing these ball players do what they do best, competing in their sport, that makes all the planning and organizing worth while.”

Whitehorse has also welcomed 20 umpires representing 16 countries.
Today’s results saw Australia and Botswana 15-0, New Zealand and Denmark 20-2, Venezuela and South Africa 11-1, Mexico and Argentina 9-7.
This is a caliber of ball that Whitehorse has never seen before,” said Arcand “We have a strong softball culture but I think fans will be pretty impressed when they see these teams play.”
The Championship organizers thank their 16 sponsors and the over 150 registered volunteers filling in shifts over the 10 day event.
