Australia Wins World Junior Fast Pitch Championship
Australia has been crowned champion after a 2-1 extra inning win over Canada. It is their fourth consecutive World Junior Men's Fast Pitch Championship.
The game, which was close all the way, had no score going into extra innings where International Softball Federation rules stipulate that each team starts the inning with a runner on second base.
Although Canada was able to score a run in their half of the inning, Australia’s home team advantage paid off during their last at bat, with runners on second and third, the Aussies were able to drive in the tying and winning runs with a two out single.
Canada settles for a hard fought silver medal on home soil, while Japan takes home the bronze after a great 10 days of softball at the Pepsi Softball Centre.
