Profile: Andrew Loechner

 

This is Andrew Loechner's 26th World Championship so we think it's safe to say he's is a pretty big fan of the sport.

He began as a fast pitch player and has continued with the sport to this day. He was inducted to the International Softball Federation Hall of Fame in 1997 for his work as an administrator with the sport.

It is his official capacity as Secretary General of the International Softball Federation that has brought him to Whitehorse for a third time.

It's the excitement of the game that keeps Mr. Loechner involved. Why does he love the game so much? "It's the only sport where you can fail 2 out of 3 times and still succeed."

So far Mr. Loechner is very impressed with George Arcand and the 2008 organizing committee and said that Whitehorse is doing a great job of hosting this year's World's.

"Canada always does a great job of hosting this kind of event."

And when asked who he's rooting for Mr. Loechner responded, " I can't lose because they are all my team".
